5 to Watch: Canada's Sports Business Awards, have become a "must-attend" within the sports business industry and set the standard for identifying the next generation of industry leaders.
 
Each year over 400 of the biggest names in sports business join together to network, listen as the brightest minds in the industry address the audience with key note speeches and/or panel discussions, and celebrate
as the 5 to Watch awards are presented to five emerging sports business leaders. It's a dynamic night of connecting with old friends and making new connections, enjoying amazing food, learning from the speakers and enjoying the after-party with the winners.
 
The awards are voted on by a panel of industry business executives including executives from founding partners: BMO Financial Group, the Canadian Football League, Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, SDI Marketing, TSN and presenting sponsor, Globe and Mail. This year Canadian Tire joins the original five partners. Nominations come from both the public and industry members.
 
The 5 to Watch Awards were launched by George Brown College's School of Marketing's Program Advisory Committee and a group of dedicated alumni, in partnership with the Globe & Mail, to recognize leaders in the Canadian Sports Business industry under the age of 40 and to raise money for the George Brown College Foundation.

In 2014 a new Alumni Achievement Award was added to recognize outstanding achievement by a George Brown College Sport & Event Marketing Program Graduate.
 
To date, the event has raised over $150k for student awards and bursaries at George Brown’s Centre for Business.
